SmartCat Privacy Policy – Catfish Chess

Last updated: 20 September 2026

In short

Catfish Chess is made for families. The game contains no advertisements and no in-app purchases. Signing in to Google Play Games is optional – the whole game can be played without signing in, and without any data being sent to Google Play Games.

We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with anyone for advertising.

What the game stores on your device

What is sent to SmartCat's server

When your device is online, the game sends your rating, the number of games played and your chosen nickname to our server at smartcat.fi. This is used to show the game's own high score list and to keep the chess engine's ratings up to date.

Your nickname and rating are visible to other players on that list. Please do not use your real name, and do not enter any personal information as a nickname.

What is sent to Google Play Games

This happens only if you choose to sign in to Google Play Games. If you do:

Google processes this data under its own privacy policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy

If you never sign in, none of the above is sent to Google Play Games.

Children

Catfish Chess takes part in Google Play's Designed for Families programme, and we are committed to complying with the Google Play Families Policies.

We do not knowingly collect any personal information about children beyond what is described on this page. There are no advertisements in the game, and no data is shared for advertising.

Signing in to Google Play Games requires a Google account. Parents can decide whether a child signs in – the game is fully playable without it, and nothing is sent to Google Play Games unless the player signs in.
